Vikings declare cornerback Stephon Gilmore unavailable for Falcons game due to hamstring issue.

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings will be without cornerback Stephon Gilmore for their upcoming match against the Atlanta Falcons due to a hamstring strain.

Gilmore sustained the injury during the second quarter of last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals and did not return to the field afterward. Throughout the week, he was absent from practice. Head Coach Kevin O’Connell indicated on Friday that Gilmore’s recovery is progressing well and that he has a chance to play in the following game against the Chicago Bears on December 16, which is a Monday night matchup. This extra day before that game may facilitate his healing process.

As the Vikings prepare to face the Falcons, who hold a record of 6-6, they boast a favorable 10-2 record. In addition to Gilmore’s absence, the team has listed six other players as questionable for the Sunday game. Those players include long snapper Andrew DePaola (hand), outside linebacker Patrick Jones (knee), defensive tackle Harrison Phillips (back), kicker Will Reichard (quadriceps), guard Dalton Risner (back), and outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (thigh). Coach O’Connell expressed optimism regarding their availability, mentioning that all of them have a “good chance to go.”

Both DePaola and Reichard have missed the last four games, but they participated fully in practice on Friday, indicating a positive step forward in their recoveries. Risner also practiced without restrictions, while Jones, Phillips, and Van Ginkel were limited participants.

The Vikings are looking to maintain their momentum as they head into this pivotal game against Atlanta. With key players potentially returning to the lineup, fans are hopeful that their team can continue their impressive performance this season.
