GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina triumphed over Tulane with a 73-64 victory on Thursday night, led by RJ Felton’s outstanding performance.
Felton delivered 17 points for the Pirates (18-12, 10-7 American Athletic Conference), making 7 of 15 shots from the field and sinking 3 of 8 from beyond the arc. C.J. Walker contributed significantly with 15 points, achieving 5 of 12 field goals and was flawless from the free-throw line, hitting 5 of 5 attempts. Walker also gathered seven rebounds. Joran Riley added to the score with 15 points on an impressive 6 of 9 shooting and contributed six rebounds.
Tulane’s effort was spearheaded by Asher Woods, who recorded 21 points, alongside four assists and two steals. The Green Wave (17-13, 11-6) also benefited from Rowan Brumbaugh’s defensive prowess, who notched up 13 points and five steals, while Mari Jordan rounded out his contributions with 11 points.
The Pirates set the pace early, taking the lead with 16:56 left in the first half and maintaining it for the rest of the game. By halftime, the score was 42-31 with Walker having scored 11 points by that time. East Carolina capitalized on a strong second-half performance, including a 10-0 scoring run that extended their lead to 59-42, remaining unchallenged thereafter.
Both squads prepare for their upcoming games on Sunday, with East Carolina traveling to face Florida Atlantic and Tulane hosting UAB.
