LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell University emerged victorious against Loyola Maryland in a nail-biting 76-72 overtime victory during Thursday’s matchup in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals. Noah Williamson was instrumental for Bucknell, tallying a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Supporting his team’s effort, Josh Bascoe contributed significantly with 20 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Elvin Edmonds IV added 12 points, capitalizing on crucial free throws with less than two minutes remaining in overtime to secure the lead that ensured the Bison’s win. The game marks Bucknell’s sixth consecutive win, bringing their season record to 18-14.
On the opposing side, Loyola Maryland, with an 11-18 record, fought hard with Jacob Theodosiou leading their efforts. Theodosiou scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and provided seven assists. Jordan Stiemke supported the team with 14 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks, while Milos Ilic added 13 points and eight rebounds.
Heading into halftime, Bucknell led by a slim margin of 39-36, with Williamson emerging as the standout scorer during the first half with 12 points. Loyola Maryland managed to push the game into overtime, thanks to Stiemke’s layup with just 40 seconds left on the clock, bringing the score to a tie at 67.
