FORT MYERS, Fla. — Leo Colimerio delivered an impressive performance with 21 points, leading No. 6 seed Queens University to an upset victory over third-seeded Florida Gulf Coast, with a final score of 71-65 on Monday night. This triumph occurred during the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.
Looking ahead, the Royals are set to face off against top-seeded Lipscomb in the semifinals this Thursday. Additionally, the other semifinal match will feature No. 2 seed North Alabama competing against No. 4 seed Jacksonville, also on Thursday.
Colimerio was instrumental for the Royals, not only scoring but contributing six assists, enhancing their overall teamwork and strategy. Teammates Kalib Mathews and Chris Ashby added depth to the roster, with Mathews scoring 14 points, including two critical 3-pointers, and Ashby adding 12 points of his own.
On the Florida Gulf Coast side, Zavian McLean emerged as the lead scorer with 18 points and made two strategic steals. Supporting him, Keeshawn Kellman put up a strong showing with 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, while Jevin Muniz contributed 12 points.
