KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In a standout performance, Addy Brown netted 41 points—marking the third-highest score in Big 12 Tournament history—as Iowa State overcame Arizona State with a 96-88 victory on Thursday in the second round.

Brown’s impressive total is surpassed only by Brittney Griner’s 45-point game for Baylor in the 2012 tournament and Andrea Riley’s 43 for Oklahoma State in 2010. She was just one point shy of the Iowa State program record of 42, which was set by Tonya Burns in 1984. Brown exhibited remarkable shooting, making 13 of 23 attempts with five successful 3-pointers, and converting 10 of 11 free throws.

Entering as the seventh seed, the Cyclones (22-10) are set to face second-seeded and No. 17-ranked Baylor in the quarterfinal on Friday. Previously, the Bears managed a 67-52 victory over Iowa State on their home court on February 22.

Iowa State’s Audi Crooks contributed significantly with 20 points. Despite making fewer field goals than the Sun Devils (10-22), the Cyclones capitalized on free throws, going 33 of 40 compared to ASU’s 12 of 18 at the line.

Leading Arizona State, Jalyn Brown hit four 3-pointers and racked up 26 points, while Tyi Skinner added 23 points, including four 3s, setting a new program single-season record with 80 3-pointers.

The game stood out particularly in the fourth quarter when Addy Brown opened by scoring the first five points, securing a 19-point lead. As the Sun Devils closed within eight points with under three minutes remaining, Emily Ryan’s crucial basket followed by six Iowa State free throws extended the lead back to 14 points.

Earlier, Brown scored 13 of her 24-point first-half performance and Sydney Harris added 11 points in the first quarter, helping the Cyclones overturn a five-point deficit to take a 28-17 lead. Iowa State maintained its lead throughout, with the margin fluctuating between eight and 20 points.
