Cruz’s 12 points propel Rider to 78-50 win over Canisius

    In Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Rider University showcased a commanding performance on Thursday night, defeating Canisius with a decisive 78-50 victory. Leading the charge for Rider was Zion Cruz, who contributed 12 points while also making an impact defensively with three steals. The Broncs who stand at 12-18 overall and 8-11 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), saw additional contributions from TJ Weeks Jr., who scored 11 points, and Cole McCabe, who had an impressive perfect 4-for-4 shooting performance, adding 10 points to the tally.

    On the opposing side, the Golden Griffins, who have struggled this season with a record of 3-27 and 3-16 in conference play, were led by Cam Palesse, who scored 13 points. Gianni Thompson added 10 points to the effort, while Anthony Benard chipped in with nine points in the losing effort.

    Looking ahead, Rider will conclude their regular season with a home game against Niagara on Saturday. Meanwhile, Canisius is set to hit the road to face Saint Peter’s, aiming to end their challenging season on a positive note.
