Orlando, Fla. — Keyshawn Hall contributed significantly to the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) victory over California Baptist, scoring 15 points during the match on Sunday afternoon. Alongside him, Darius Johnson and Moustapha Thiem each added 11 points, leading the Knights to a 74-59 win. Jordan Ivy-Curry also played a crucial role, chipping in with 10 points to help UCF improve their season record to 6-2.
At halftime, the Knights held a narrow three-point lead. However, they surged ahead in the second half, igniting a remarkable 15-0 scoring run. The momentum shifted when Dominique Daniels Jr. sank a three-pointer for the Lancers, leveling the game at 36-36 early in the period. But this was quickly followed by an explosive performance from Hall, who scored six points during the run, culminating in a three-point play and a subsequent three-pointer.
Just minutes later, Ivy-Curry compounded California Baptist’s woes by hitting another three-pointer, extending UCF’s lead to 65-47, creating an 18-point margin with just under six minutes remaining in the game. Throughout the contest, Daniels was a standout for the Lancers, scoring an impressive 33 points and shooting 11-of-25 from the field. Despite his individual success, Daniels was the only player on his team to manage more than two successful field goals. The Lancers struggled overall, achieving only a 35% shooting percentage, although they were flawless from the free-throw line, contributing 13 of those points, eight of which came from Daniels. Additionally, Kendal Coleman dominated the boards with 13 rebounds.
At one point during the first half, the Lancers held the lead for nearly eight minutes, with their last advantage being 27-25 with three minutes left in the half. However, the Knights responded with a few three-pointers from Johnson and a free throw from Dallan Coleman, giving UCF a five-point edge at the end of the half, leading 32-29.
