SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners are set to welcome back power-hitting third baseman Eugenio Suárez in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks. This move comes after his previous stint with the Mariners during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, where he delivered an impressive 53 home runs.

Having maintained his exceptional form, Suárez has smashed 36 home runs this season alone. His current performance places him tied with teammate Cal Raleigh at the top for the major league RBI lead, each having accumulated 87 RBIs. This addition strengthens an already formidable Mariners lineup that sits fifth in the majors for home runs, largely fueled by Raleigh, who leads the league with 41 homers.

The 34-year-old infielder is playing out the last year of an eight-year, $79 million contract, and will be eligible for free agency after the upcoming season. This strategic acquisition underscores Seattle’s push as they remain in contention for a wild-card berth.
