ANAHEIM, Calif. — In a showdown between the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels, Nathan Eovaldi showcased his pitching prowess by surrendering just one run over seven innings, leading his team to a 6-3 victory on Wednesday night.
Eovaldi’s performance was instrumental in ending the Rangers’ struggles during the series, as they avoided getting swept and brought the Angels’ three-game winning streak to a halt. The right-hander conceded only six hits and successfully struck out four batters.
Offensively, Marcus Semien was a key contributor, going 3-for-5. His efforts included two runs, an RBI, and a well-timed double which kickstarted the scoring drive on Wyatt Langford’s fourth-inning single. Langford himself managed to go 2-for-5 with a double to bolster Texas’ lineup.
Closing duties fell to Robert Garcia, who smoothly pitched the ninth inning to lock down his ninth save of the season.
For the Angels, José Soriano took the mound for seven innings, where he allowed two earned runs while striking out seven batters. His efforts kept the Angels competitive, but Luis Rengifo’s RBI single in the fourth was the only highlight in terms of offensive production early in the game.
Adolis García broke the close contest in the eighth with a towering two-run homer, marking his 15th homer of the season and giving the Rangers a crucial cushion. Following his lead, Texas managed to widen the gap by adding two more runs to their tally.
Los Angeles showed signs of life, however, when Nolan Schanuel hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning. Corey Seager further extended his on-base streak, reaching 29 games with a late-game single to right during the ninth.
Key to the Rangers’ victory was García’s eighth-inning homer, providing necessary separation on the scoreboard.
Looking ahead, the Rangers are set to send Jack Leiter (7-6, 4.09 ERA) to the mound on Friday night as they head to Seattle. Meanwhile, the Angels will see Tyler Anderson (2-6, 4.41 ERA) pitch at home against the Chicago White Sox.
