MONTREAL — In an intriguing and casual interaction, Justin Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada, and renowned pop singer Katy Perry were spotted dining together in Montreal. This meeting, which took place at the elegant restaurant Le Violon, lasted for approximately two hours on Monday evening. Photos circulating from their gathering have ignited curiosity and whispers about a possible romantic link between the two.
Samantha Jin, a communications consultant for the restaurant, confirmed the dinner date and provided insights into the evening’s dynamics. According to Jin, the duo maintained a low-key presence and appeared to prefer solitude, as no staff members or dining patrons approached them for photographs. Jin mentioned, “We kind of got the vibe that they were a little more chill,” reinforcing the notion of a relaxed and private atmosphere.
Despite the speculation in the media, particularly with TMZ sharing a video of their animated conversation during the meal, Jin observed no signs hinting at a romantic relationship between Trudeau and Perry. She explicitly stated, “No visual signs of PDA or anything,” implying that the dinner may not have been as intimate as some narratives suggested.
The singer’s recent split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom and her concurrent musical tour that includes stops in Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Toronto adds another dimension to the speculation. Meanwhile, Trudeau, who is in the life phase following his separation from ex-wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023, has announced his resignation earlier this year after an extended tenure in office.
As for the dining experience, Jin noted that security personnel discreetly monitored the scene from the bar as the high-profile pair indulged in an elaborate chef’s menu. This included an array of appetizers such as tuna and beef tartare, accentuated by a main course of lamb. The restaurant’s renowned Chef Danny Smiles made a point to greet them, and their appreciation was formally extended to the culinary team as they departed.
While inquiries were made for comments, a spokeswoman for Trudeau and one for Perry were not immediately available to provide any statements regarding the meeting.
Reflecting on family history, Trudeau’s father, late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, was famously linked with Hollywood as he dated prominent actresses and married at a mature age while in office. On the other hand, Katy Perry, California native and celebrated pop artist, carries a significant legacy with 13 Grammy nominations and a powerhouse career driven by her influence on 2000s pop music. Her 2010 album, “Teenage Dream,” is recognized for producing a record-tying five No. 1 singles, placing her alongside Michael Jackson’s legendary “Bad” album.
