MACOMB, Ill. — In a compelling matchup on Thursday night, Johnathan Lawson shone brightly for Little Rock, leading his team to a 62-51 victory over Western Illinois with an impressive 25-point performance.

Lawson displayed his shooting prowess, making 9 of his 19 attempts from the field, which included an impressive 4 out of 7 from beyond the arc. Additionally, he was perfect from the free-throw line, converting all three of his attempts. This victory improved the Trojans’ season record to 12 wins and 7 losses, with a conference record of 6-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Beyond Lawson, Ante Beljan contributed significantly with 12 points and six rebounds, while Isaiah Lewis added eight points, although he finished with a shooting performance of 4 for 13.

On the other side, Sean Smith was the standout for the Leathernecks, scoring 16 points and securing seven rebounds. He also contributed with four assists and two steals, showcasing his all-around play. Marko Maletic supported the effort by scoring 15 points, while Massal Diouf added six points along with seven rebounds, further solidifying Western Illinois’ effort.
