LEICESTER, England — Former England international Geoff Parling will transition from his current role as an assistant coach for Australia’s national rugby team to become the head coach of the English club Leicester Tigers in the upcoming season.

Parling, who is 41 years old, is expected to remain committed to the Wallabies until the conclusion of the test series against the British & Irish Lions in August before he embarks on his new journey with Leicester Tigers, as announced by the team on Monday.

Before his involvement with the Wallabies, Parling served as an assistant coach for the Melbourne Rebels. His playing career saw him spending six seasons with Leicester, where he achieved notable success by securing two English league titles. Additionally, he had the honor of representing the Lions during his playing days.

Reflecting on this move, Parling expressed, “There are not many opportunities that would prompt me and my family to consider leaving Australia, a place we’ve cherished as home for the past seven years. However, returning to Leicester Tigers is a prospect we genuinely look forward to.”
