CHICAGO — In an exciting matchup on Saturday, Jacob Meyer delivered an impressive performance, netting 23 points to lead DePaul to a 91-72 victory over Wichita State.
Meyer showcased his shooting prowess, converting 6 of 9 attempts from the field, including 4 of 6 from three-point territory, while maintaining a perfect 7 for 7 at the free-throw line for the Blue Demons, who now hold an 8-2 record for the season.
CJ Gunn also made a significant contribution with 22 points, hitting 9 of 12 from the floor and sinking 4 of 6 three-point attempts. Isaiah Rivera added 17 points to the scoreboard, going 6 for 11 and hitting 5 of 8 from beyond the arc while also grabbing seven rebounds.
On the other side, Harlond Beverly topped the scoring for the Shockers, finishing with 14 points. Xavier Bell contributed with another 14 points, while Quincy Ballard chipped in with 12 points for Wichita State, who also share an 8-2 record this season.
Rivera was particularly effective in the first half, scoring 14 points as DePaul entered halftime trailing 47-42. Meanwhile, Meyer’s leadership shone in the second half, where he led the Blue Demons with 14 points, helping the team significantly in outscoring the Shockers by a margin of 24 points in the final half.
