President Joe Biden is making a grave mistake that could haunt the world. He’s quietly releasing more prisoners from the notorious Guantanamo Bay prison. These are not ordinary criminals. These are terrorists. Many of them have already returned to their violent ways. And now, they’re being sent back into the world.

Shocking recidivism rate

Recent intelligence documents reveal shocking information. More than 230 former Gitmo detainees have gone back to terrorism. That’s a staggering 32% recidivism rate. Some of them are still at large. They’ve escaped justice. They’ve killed Americans. And now, Biden is adding more to the list.

Biden’s goal: closing Gitmo

This move is part of Biden’s plan to close Gitmo, a promise made by his old boss, Barack Obama. Shortly after taking office, Biden reversed former President Trump’s order to keep the prison open. Now, he’s working to empty it out. But the remaining prisoners are the most dangerous ones — too dangerous to release. Military intelligence has labeled them the “worst of the worst.”

Releasing Al-Qaeda terrorists

Just this month, Biden freed 11 Yemeni prisoners, all tied to al-Qaeda. Two of them were Osama bin Laden’s bodyguards. These terrorists were sent to Oman, where they are supposedly being rehabilitated. But there’s a problem. Oman’s counterterrorism programs have faced setbacks. The country has “limited resources” and its efforts to fight extremism remain unclear. This is dangerous. Oman’s borders with Saudi Arabia and Yemen are poorly controlled, making it easy for terrorists to slip through.

One of the released prisoners, Sana Ali Yislam al-Kazimi, was a key figure in al-Qaeda’s Yemen branch. He could easily return to his old terrorist ways. In fact, just six months ago, Oman abandoned 28 Gitmo terrorists it promised to reform. Instead of being rehabilitated, they were sent to Yemen, a known haven for terrorists. It seems Oman would rather rid itself of these terrorists than deal with them.

More dangerous releases on the way

But Biden isn’t stopping there. He’s cleared three more Gitmo terrorists for release. One of them is an explosives expert linked to al-Qaeda. Another is a key figure in al-Qaeda’s Somalia network. And three more are up for review. Among them is Abu Zubaydah, one of bin Laden’s most trusted operatives. If he’s released, Congress will have 30 days to object.

The forever detainees avoid justice

Even worse, some of the most notorious terrorists at Gitmo are avoiding justice. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind behind 9/11, is striking a plea deal. Instead of facing the death penalty, he will serve life in prison. Biden wants to transfer these “forever” detainees to US prisons, but a law prevents it. Trump, on the other hand, has vowed to keep Gitmo open.

Intelligence agencies’ warnings ignored

Biden’s actions go against the warnings from his own intelligence agencies. A report from the Office of National Intelligence shows that one in three Gitmo detainees released has returned to terrorism. These former prisoners have killed Americans, planned attacks, and even recruited terrorists. The recidivism rate is a shocking 31.9%. And that’s not even counting those involved in anti-US propaganda.

Terrorists using the system to get released

Despite this, detainees continue to appeal for their release. Their lawyers argue that they’ve “reformed” thanks to activities like yoga and meditation. They claim they just want to return home. But the reality is different. These terrorists are playing the system. Their stories have been exposed as lies. Yet, the Pentagon insists that each detainee undergoes a “thorough review.” However, the public has no way of knowing how this process works. The Pentagon has even removed hearing transcripts from public view.

Failed transfers to islamic countries

What’s even more stunning is the admission that transferring detainees to Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan hasn’t stopped them from re-engaging in terrorism. A 2024 report reveals that Gitmo detainees continue to communicate with terrorist organizations. Some are determined to return to their violent ways, no matter what conditions are placed on their transfer.

The Taliban’s role in releasing Gitmo detainees

And the consequences are dire. Former Gitmo detainees who were sent to Afghanistan are now under the control of the Taliban. After Biden’s disastrous troop withdrawal in 2021, the Taliban regained control of Kabul. They’ve sheltered al-Qaeda leaders. These leaders have reunited with former Gitmo detainees. They’re once again plotting attacks.

Biden’s dangerous legacy

The same fate awaits the men Biden is sending to Oman. According to former CIA officer Sam Faddis, we’ll see them again on the battlefield. It’s only a matter of time.

Biden’s decisions are putting the world at risk. His desire to close Gitmo is clouding his judgment. The men he’s releasing are not reformed. They are dangerous. And they will return to their violent ways. The consequences of this policy could be catastrophic.
