MUNICH — Bayern Munich’s talented midfielder Jamal Musiala is poised to be absent from the upcoming Champions League quarterfinal clash against Inter Milan due to a hamstring injury.
Bayern Munich confirmed that Musiala sustained a “muscle tear in his left hamstring” after their 3-1 Bundesliga triumph over Augsburg on Friday. While the club stated that Musiala would be sidelined “for the time being,” no additional information was provided as of Saturday.
Musiala managed to score Bayern’s equalizing goal in the match, yet unfortunately limped off the field early in the second half due to the injury.
This setback may offer a chance for Thomas Müller, the seasoned Bayern player, to gain more time on the pitch. Müller, who replaced Musiala during the Augsburg match, announced on Saturday that he plans to depart Bayern at the conclusion of this season.
This Tuesday, Bayern will face Inter Milan at home for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, with the return leg scheduled for April 16.
