They should be working together, but bitterness has driven a wedge…
President Joe Biden’s staff is reportedly reluctant, and even hostile at times, towards cooperating with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign team, according to “Axios.”
The alleged reason: Biden’s close advisors haven’t gotten over how harshly the president was pushed aside over the summer, forcing him to pass the baton to his No. 2.
“While Biden’s team wants to see her win, lingering hurt feelings persist,” an insider shared in the explosive report.
Lack of cooperation between the White House and Harris is bordering sabotage
The result? Tensions between the White House and Harris’ campaign, bordering on sabotage:
- Biden scheduled a spontaneous press conference at the exact moment Harris was speaking at an election event in Michigan, prompting news outlets to cut to Biden.
- Harris criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (46) for refusing her call during Hurricane Milton. Biden, meanwhile, praised DeSantis as “cooperative” and “gracious.”
- There’s also a disconnect in their economic messaging. Biden focused on his success with recent job gains (250,000 new jobs), while Harris has emphasized voter concerns about inflation.
A Harris campaign staffer expressed frustration, saying no one in the White House is prioritizing how Biden’s actions impact Harris’ campaign.
On a more personal level, staffers who switched from Biden’s team to Harris’ have faced accusations of disloyalty, leading to bitter internal divides that have some considering quitting.
The timing of these tensions couldn’t be worse: with just three weeks to Election Day (November 5), Harris is in dire need of smooth cooperation from Biden’s camp. Polls show her campaign losing momentum, with a recent NBC survey showing her tied with Trump at 48%. She had a five-point lead in September.
Trump has been quick to exploit the friction, claiming Biden can’t stand Harris because “she ousted him” in the Democrats’ sudden candidate shift back in July.
