Flyers ink Noah Cates with $16M contract extension

    PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Flyers have solidified their roster by securing forward Noah Cates with a four-year contract extension valued at $16 million. Flyers’ general manager, Danny Briere, made this announcement on Tuesday, confirming that Cates’ new deal will result in a $4 million impact on the team’s salary cap each year.

    At 26 years old, Cates has established himself as a key player for the Flyers. During the last season, he made significant contributions with 16 goals and a total of 37 points over 78 games. Originally chosen by the Flyers in the fifth round of the 2017 draft, Cates has participated in 235 career NHL matches. Throughout his career, he has amassed 40 goals and 62 assists, totaling 102 points.

    Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 194 pounds, Cates made his entry into the NHL on April 29, 2022, in Minnesota, the state he calls home. He marked an important milestone by scoring his first NHL goal just days before, on April 5, 2022, against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
