SAN DIEGO – An impressive performance by Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones, who scored 25 points, propelled the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) to a 95-68 victory over Cal Poly on Thursday evening.

Tait-Jones was highly efficient, hitting 6 of 9 shots from the field and converting an outstanding 13 of 14 attempts from the free-throw line for the Tritons, who improved their record to 14-2, maintaining an unbeaten status in the Big West Conference at 4-0. Hayden Gray had a stellar game as well, contributing 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. He also secured three perfect shots from the charity stripe and made six steals, showcasing his all-around skills. Nordin Kapic added another 16 points, shooting 5 of 7 overall, with 2 of 3 from three-point territory, and went 4 for 4 from the line. With this victory, the Tritons celebrated their 12th consecutive win.

On the Cal Poly side, Owen Koonce stood out with 20 points and six rebounds as the Mustangs struggled to find their rhythm, falling to a record of 6-11 and 0-5 in conference play. Guzman Vasilic contributed 15 points, while Peter Bandelj chipped in with 12 points to help keep the game competitive.

Looking ahead, UCSD will face UC Irvine in their next matchup, while Cal Poly will host UCSB this Saturday, providing both teams an opportunity to improve their standings.
