LONDON — Former Formula 1 team owner and media figure Eddie Jordan has revealed that he has been undergoing treatment for what he describes as “quite aggressive” cancer.
In a recent episode of his podcast, “Formula For Success,” co-hosted with ex-racing driver David Coulthard, Jordan disclosed his diagnosis and emphasized the importance of seeking medical help for health issues.
“Back in March and April, I received a diagnosis of bladder and prostate cancer, which unfortunately progressed to my spine and pelvis. It has been rather aggressive,” Jordan explained.
When Coulthard brought up the topic of chemotherapy, Jordan responded, saying, “There were some very dark days along the way, but thankfully, we’ve managed to come through it.”
The Irish businessman began his racing career in lower-tier series before making his way to Formula 1 in 1991, where he notably gave the future seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher his first race in that same year.
Throughout the years, his team saw drivers such as Damon Hill, who claimed the 1996 championship with Williams, as well as Rubens Barrichello and Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who finished third in the championship for Jordan in 1999.
Under Jordan’s leadership, Jordan Grand Prix succeeded in winning four races, but he sold the team in 2005. Since then, the team has undergone several ownership changes and rebranding and currently operates under the name Aston Martin.
At 76 years old, Jordan has also taken on the role of manager for renowned car designer Adrian Newey, who recently transitioned from Red Bull to Aston Martin this year.
