ATLANTA – On Sunday, one of the world’s most bustling airports faced significant operational challenges, leading to delays affecting hundreds of flights. Technical troubles with runway equipment at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport caused disruptions throughout the day.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a statement indicating that measures had been taken to reduce the influx of arriving planes temporarily. This decision was made as a crew of technicians was deployed to resolve the equipment issue at the runway.
According to FlightAware, a flight-tracking service, over 200 outbound flights were experiencing delays as of 1 p.m. EDT. The situation was equally troublesome for incoming air traffic, with over 250 flights waiting longer than scheduled.
