CHICAGO โ€” In an exhilarating display at the plate, Tim Elko belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning, marking his maiden hit in the big leagues and propelling the Chicago White Sox to a 4-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

This triumph allowed the White Sox to rebound after being swept in a four-game series by the Kansas City Royals, marking the third series victory of their season.

Andrew Vaughn paved the way with an RBI single in the third inning, putting the White Sox on the board. However, Miamiโ€™s Xavier Edwards quickly responded, driving in Matt Mervis with a single in the fourth inning to even the score. Edwards concluded the day with two hits and stole a base.

Reliever Mike Vasil (2-1) played a key role, pitching three innings and yielding a run on three hits, while Cam Booser secured his first save of the season by closing out the ninth inning.

Despite a strong showing from Miamiโ€™s Sandy Alcantara, who struck out eight batters across 5 2/3 innings, he surrendered four runs on seven hits and issued three walks, resulting in a loss (2-5).

For Chicago, Chase Meidroth shone with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, including a double.

The pivotal moment came as Matt Thaiss singled to start the sixth inning, advanced to third on Joshua Palaciosโ€™ one-out single, and set the stage for Tim Elkoโ€™s memorable homer over the left-center wall, handing the White Sox a commanding 4-1 lead.

In a critical defensive play, with two outs and runners at the corners in the sixth, Thaiss managed to pick off Nick Fortes at third base, maintaining the tie at 1-1 before Elkoโ€™s decisive swing.

Looking ahead, the Marlins journey to Chicagoโ€™s North Side for a three-game series against the Cubs. Scheduled to start, Cal Quantrill (2-3, 7.11 ERA) will face Colin Rea (2-0, 2.43 ERA) on Monday.

Meanwhile, the White Sox head to Cincinnati, beginning their own three-game series with Jonathan Cannon (2-4, 4.09 ERA) expected to take the mound against the Redsโ€™ Andrew Abbott (2-0, 2.25 ERA) on Tuesday.
