Cowboys welcome Bengals with open roof after falling debris disrupted initial setup for Texans game

ARLINGTON, Texas — The roof of the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium was successfully opened for the Monday night matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, and it remained opened throughout the game.
Despite this positive development, the Cowboys ended up losing the game 27-20, marking the first occasion the roof had been open since they played against Chicago on October 30, 2022, where they won decisively with a score of 49-29.

Three weeks prior, there was an attempt to open the stadium’s roof for a game against the Houston Texans on another Monday night; however, plans changed dramatically when a substantial metal piece and other debris fell approximately 300 feet onto the field while the roof was being retracted about three hours before kickoff.
Following this alarming incident, the Cowboys opted to keep the roof closed for that game, prioritizing safety. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, and the game proceeded as scheduled without any delays.

The organization announced that it would conduct an investigation into the cause of the debris falling and indicated a willingness to reopen the roof once safety measures were confirmed.
Factors such as wind were suggested as potential contributors to the falling debris, as gusts were reported to reach at least 30 mph earlier in the day leading up to the Texans game. By contrast, the weather for Monday’s game against the Bengals was sunny with temperatures reaching the 70s, accompanied by milder winds of around 10 mph.
