AJ Ferguson’s impressive performance, tallying 22 points, propelled Murray State to a 74-64 victory over Southern Illinois on Wednesday evening.
Ferguson complemented his score with eight rebounds, contributing significantly to the team’s overall effort as the Racers improved to 11-9 for the season, with a 5-4 record in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Nick Ellington also played a vital role for Murray State, notching 14 points along with seven rebounds and blocking three shots.
For Southern Illinois, the standout performer was Ali Abdou Dibba, who led the Salukis with 21 points, six rebounds, and two blocks in their effort to stay competitive.
Kennard Davis aided the cause with 20 points, capturing seven rebounds and registering two steals, while Jarrett Hensley chipped in with 11 points.
Murray State managed to edge out Southern Illinois with a slight lead of 34-32 at halftime, partly thanks to Ellington’s solid first-half contribution of 10 points.
The Racers pulled away in the second half, largely fueled by Ferguson’s excellent 16-point display, which helped secure the team’s ten-point win.
