In a tightly contested matchup on Saturday night, Damariee Jones played a pivotal role in Southern’s 67-60 victory over Grambling.
Jones not only contributed significantly with 15 points but also grabbed nine rebounds, helping the Jaguars improve their record to 10-8 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Cam Amboree supported the effort with 13 points, hitting 3 of 10 shots from the field, including two 3-pointers from seven attempts, and successful from the free-throw line, making five of six attempts.
Joe Manning also made a notable impact, finishing the game with 10 points by shooting 4 of 7 from the field.
On the other side, Grambling’s performance was spearheaded by Antwan Barnett, who had an impressive night with 15 points, 14 rebounds, and a pair of steals.
Kintavious Dozier added to the Tigers’ efforts with 13 points, while Ernest Ross contributed with eight points to the score sheet.
Both teams will return to action next Saturday, with Southern set to visit UAPB and Grambling heading on the road to face Mississippi Valley State.
