In Los Angeles, an incident involving Jillian Lauren, a renowned author and the spouse of Scott Shriner—the bassist of the band Weezer—unfolded dramatically. Lauren was shot and injured by police officers and subsequently arrested on allegations of attempted murder after pointing a firearm at them from her front yard, Los Angeles authorities reported.

Jillian Lauren, who is 51 years old, was referred to as Jillian Shriner by law enforcement and noted as Jillian Lauren Shriner in detention logs. She sustained injuries from the confrontation but these were reported as not posing a threat to her life. This event occurred in Eagle Rock, a neighborhood in the northeast of Los Angeles. At this time, there are no comments from her representatives, and it seems Scott Shriner was not involved in the affair. Meanwhile, Weezer is slated to perform on Saturday at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The situation began when police officers were assisting the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in tracking three individuals suspected of fleeing a scene of a misdemeanor hit-and-run incident. According to the police, Lauren was not among these suspects. As officers chased one suspect reportedly sprinting through a backyard, they encountered Lauren standing in her front yard armed with a handgun.

Authorities claimed they repeatedly instructed her to drop the weapon, but she allegedly refused and aimed it at them. The details remain unclear if Lauren discharged the weapon, but police fired at her, prompting her to retreat into her house, whereupon she was captured and subsequently taken to a hospital. The police mentioned recovering a 9-millimeter firearm from her home.

After the event, Lauren was registered and held with bail set at $1 million, according to the Los Angeles County jail records. She has not yet appeared in court, and it is yet to be confirmed if she has legal representation. Attempts to contact her manager and reach out through her author website have not received any reply, nor have queries for a response from Weezer’s representative been successful.

Jillian Lauren is noted for writing two acclaimed memoirs: “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem” in 2010 and “Everything You Ever Wanted” in 2015. Weezer, the Los Angeles-based band, gained significant popularity with their 1994 album known colloquially as the “Blue Album,” which included hits like “Say It Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly.” Scott Shriner became a band member in the early 2000s. Lauren and Scott married in 2005, and they are parents to two children.

Of the three suspects related to the hit-and-run, one individual was located, issued a citation by the CHP, and subsequently released.
