IOWA CITY, Iowa — Yarden Garzon had a stellar performance Sunday, scoring 21 points with an impressive shooting percentage of 7-of-8, including a flawless 5-for-5 from beyond the arc, leading the Indiana women’s basketball team to a 74-67 victory over No. 23 Iowa.
Chloe Moore-McNeil contributed significantly with 18 points, while Sydney Parrish added 15 points, sinking three 3-pointers for Indiana, who now holds a record of 12-4 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play. This marks their eighth win in the past nine games, their only setback occurring against No. 1 UCLA in a 73-62 home loss on January 4.
For Iowa, Taylor McCabe led the scoring with 15 points, hitting four 3-pointers, while Addison O’Grady chipped in 11 points, shooting 5-of-7. Unfortunately for the Hawkeyes, this defeat marks their third consecutive loss, bringing their record to 12-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
The Hoosiers set the tone early, with Garzon scoring a layup just 44 seconds into the game, followed by Moore-McNeil and Parrish contributing to a 6-0 lead, a margin Indiana would maintain throughout the contest.
As they approached the fourth quarter, Garzon added a jumper and a 3-pointer, extending Indiana’s lead to 15 points—its largest of the game—just two minutes into the final period. Iowa rallied by scoring 13 of the next 15 points, narrowing the gap to 66-62 with 1:52 left in the game, but were unable to close the deficit any further.
Up next, Indiana will host Illinois, while Iowa is set to welcome Nebraska on Thursday.
