Binet nets 16 points as Alcorn State secures its first victory, defeating Alabama A&M 62-52

LORMAN, Miss.
— In a much-anticipated matchup, Alcorn State secured its first victory of the season, breaking a troubling streak of 14 consecutive losses by defeating Alabama A&M 62-52 on Saturday night.

Djahi Binet led the charge for the Braves with a solid performance, contributing 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Alongside him, Marcus Tankersley netted 14 points, successfully making five of eleven shots while sinking four out of six from the free-throw line.

Julian Lual also played a role in the Braves’ triumph, scoring nine points but struggled somewhat with his shooting, making four of twelve attempts, including just one out of six from beyond the arc.

This victory marks a significant turnaround for Alcorn State (1-14, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference), snapping a lengthy losing streak.

On the other side, Saliou Seye was the standout for the Bulldogs (6-10, 2-1), leading the team with 12 points.

Anthony Bryant made a valuable contribution as well, adding 11 points, while Chad Moodie had a noteworthy game with eight points, ten rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Looking ahead, both teams have games scheduled for Monday. Alcorn State is set to host Alabama State, while Alabama A&M will travel to take on Jackson State.
