In an unfolding narrative from Moscow, Idaho, the Latah County Sheriff’s Office recently unveiled body-worn camera footage depicting Bryan Kohberger during a traffic stop predating the tragic events that led to the deaths of four University of Idaho students in 2022.

The footage, made public on Tuesday, is from an incident in August 2022 where Deputy Darren Duke stopped Kohberger for speeding on a highway that links Moscow, Idaho, to Pullman, Washington. During this stop, Kohberger is seen driving the same white Hyundai Elantra that was later identified as the vehicle used in the grievous crime that unfolded on November 13, 2022. On that fateful day, Kohberger allegedly murdered Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Maddie Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves in a rental property near the University’s campus.

At the time of this traffic stop, the deputy issued Kohberger a ticket for not wearing a seat belt, after which Kohberger continued on his way. In the aftermath of the case and Kohberger’s life sentence, several law enforcement agencies involved in the murder investigation have indicated they will start releasing related documents.
