The Chicago White Sox have made a move by signing catcher Omar Narváez to a minor league contract. This agreement includes an invitation for Narváez to participate in the big league camp during spring training.

The announcement came on Friday from the White Sox organization. Narváez began his Major League Baseball career with the White Sox in 2016, where he showcased his batting skills, achieving a .274 average, along with 12 home runs and 54 runs batted in over a span of 221 games. His time with the team concluded in November 2018 when he was traded to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for right-handed pitcher Alex Colomé.

As Narváez approaches his 33rd birthday next month, he faced a challenging season last year, hitting a career-low .154 across 28 games for the New York Mets. Following his release in June, he joined the Houston Astros on a minor league deal. Although he did not play at the Major League level for the Astros, he participated in 42 games for Triple-A Sugar Land, where he posted a .196 batting average, hitting three home runs and driving in 20 runs.

In total, Narváez has logged a .251 career batting average, amassing 53 home runs and 203 RBIs over 677 games. He also spent three seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, during which he earned a spot on the National League All-Star team in 2021.
