Hawaii triumphed over UC Riverside with a score of 83-76 in a thrilling matchup held on Thursday in Riverside, California.
Tanner Christensen played a pivotal role in Hawaii’s victory, contributing 18 points along with nine rebounds as part of the Rainbow Warriors’ lineup, which now stands at 10 wins and 5 losses, including a 2-2 record in the Big West Conference.
Supporting Christensen, Akira Jacobs displayed impressive shooting, going 5 for 7 from the field, which included 2 for 3 from beyond the arc, totaling 12 points.
Kody Williams also made his mark with 11 points, shooting 2 for 8 overall, including 1 for 4 from three-point territory, while effectively making 6 out of 8 attempts from the free-throw line. Williams further contributed to the team’s efforts with six assists.
On the opposing side, the Highlanders of UC Riverside, with a record of 10-7 and 3-2 in conference play, were led by Isaiah Moses, who had an outstanding game with 26 points, complemented by four assists and two steals.
In addition, Barrington Hargress added 19 points and Kaleb Smith contributed 14 points to the Highlanders’ score.
Looking ahead, Hawaii will face CSU Fullerton on the road Saturday, while UC Riverside will be traveling to UCSB for their next game on Thursday.
