CAVALESE, Italy — In a remarkable display of skill, Therese Johaug secured her fourth Tour de Ski title on Sunday, triumphing in the concluding stage that involved an ascent of Mount Cermis.

This marks Johaug’s impressive return to competitive skiing after a two-year hiatus from the sport. Once again, she showcased her extraordinary talent at the Val di Fiemme venue, which is set to host cross-country skiing events during the Milan-Cortina Olympics next year.

In the overall competition, Johaug outpaced her fellow Norwegian, Astrid Oeyre Slind, by a margin of 47.5 seconds, and finished with a substantial lead of 2:41.3 over Jessie Diggins from the United States, who claimed the Tour title in both 2021 and the previous year.

Adding to the excitement, Lindsey Vonn, a celebrated figure in Alpine skiing from Minnesota, was present to support her compatriot, Diggins, during the event.

On the men’s side, Norway’s Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo achieved his fourth Tour victory, finishing ahead of Austria’s Mika Vermeulen, who was 1:23.1 behind, and Hugo Lapalus from France, who trailed by 1:43.7.

Norwegian skier Simen Hegstad Krueger took the win in the final stage, further solidifying his country’s strong performance throughout the competition.
