BLACKSBURG, Va. — Chauncey Wiggins shined with four successful 3-pointers, contributing 16 points to help Clemson secure a decisive 72-57 victory against Virginia Tech on Saturday evening. This win marked Clemson’s fifth consecutive triumph, showcasing their strong performance on the court.

Del Jones added 13 points for the Tigers (17-4, 9-1 ACC), while teammates Viktor Lakhin and Jaeden Zackery each chipped in with 11 points. The team demonstrated depth and versatility in scoring, reinforcing their dominance in the game.

Virginia Tech struggled in the match, finding themselves down by 17 points early in the second half. However, they rallied to cut the deficit down to 49-45 with a 16-3 scoring run, creating a tense atmosphere with just over 10 minutes left. Despite this effort, they could not narrow the gap further.

Clemson responded assertively, igniting a 12-1 run that was highlighted by an impressive dunk from Ian Schieffelin along with a pair of free throws, allowing the Tigers to stretch their advantage to 72-53 with 2:45 remaining in the game.

Tobi Lawal was a standout performer for Virginia Tech (8-12, 3-6), scoring 14 points and pulling down six rebounds, although his efforts were not enough to change the team’s fortunes, as they faced their third consecutive defeat.

Clemson gained momentum toward the end of the first half, closing it out with a 17-3 run to take a 41-29 lead into halftime. Wiggins was particularly impactful, netting 10 points in the first half, while Lakhin supported him with eight points, helping the team to shoot an impressive 60% from the field (18 of 30).

Looking ahead, Virginia Tech is set to face Florida State on Wednesday, while Clemson will travel to play against N.C. State next Saturday.
