TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In an exciting matchup on Saturday, the Florida State Seminoles triumphed over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets with a score of 91-78. Taylor Bowen played a key role for Florida State, contributing 20 points, while teammate Malique Ewin had a standout performance with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Georgia Tech struggled to take the lead throughout the game, but a three-pointer from Lance Terry brought them within four points at 70-66 with just five minutes left on the clock. The Seminoles responded emphatically, scoring seven points in a quick succession that included a jumper from Ewin, a three-point play by Daquan Davis, and two free throws from Ewin, extending their lead to 77-66 with four minutes remaining.

The Yellow Jackets’ Javian McCollum managed to sink a three-pointer with three and a half minutes left, but Florida State quickly put the game out of reach by executing five consecutive dunks. They built an impressive lead of 86-69 with two minutes left to play.

Bowen’s shooting accuracy was notable as he made 7 of his 9 attempts, while Ewin shot 6 of 9 from the field. Jamir Watkins also added 17 points for the Seminoles, who are now positioned at 13-5 overall and 4-3 in the ACC.

Terry led Georgia Tech with 23 points, closely followed by McCollum with 20 points. The Yellow Jackets faced significant challenges due to injuries, which limited them to only six active players. Duncan Powell, the sole reserve who participated in the game, managed to score 20 points.

Florida State surged ahead early, making three three-pointers in the first five minutes to establish a commanding 15-2 lead. They maintained momentum and, after leading 30-21 late in the first half, extended their advantage with dunks from both Watkins and Bowen, closing the half at 37-24 following a late three-pointer by Powell.

The Yellow Jackets made a strong push at the beginning of the second half, taking advantage of three turnovers and hitting all four of their shots to narrow the gap to 37-34. However, Florida State responded decisively, scoring seven consecutive points to regain control with a 44-34 lead.

Looking ahead, Florida State prepares for a West Coast journey, where they will face California on Wednesday followed by Stanford on Saturday. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech is set to host Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
