NEW YORK — Corinne Bailey Rae, the acclaimed singer-songwriter known for her soulful melodies, is set to embark on a new literary venture with the creation of a children’s picture book inspired by her early musical experiences.
The book, titled “Put Your Records On,” takes its name from her iconic song and is slated for release under Rocky Pond Books, a division of Penguin Young Readers, on March 3, 2026.
Illustrated by Gillian Eilidh O’Mara, the narrative centers around a young girl who explores her great aunt’s collection of records, igniting a journey of musical discovery.

Reflecting on her childhood, Rae explained, “When I was a child, music helped me find myself. Through songs, I discovered that others felt what I felt.”
She emphasized the transformative power of music, stating that engaging with songs bolstered her confidence, and crafting her own music allowed her to express herself wholly.
“I want every child to know that they have music in their heart and a voice that should be heard,” Rae added in a statement released Wednesday.

Throughout her illustrious career, Rae, 46, has made significant contributions to the music industry, selling millions of records globally and garnering recognition for her exceptional talent.
She has been honored with two Grammy Awards — the first as a part of Herbie Hancock’s 2007 homage to Joni Mitchell, entitled “River,” and the second for her soulful rendition of Bob Marley & The Wailer’s classic, “Is This Love,” in 2011.
Through her upcoming book, Rae hopes to instill a sense of musical appreciation in children, encouraging them to explore and embrace the melodies within their hearts.
