JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars standout receiver Brian Thomas Jr. experienced a bruise on his right shoulder during the team’s mandatory minicamp on Wednesday. However, head coach Liam Coen reassured that Thomas was capable of returning to practice if needed.

During a rigorous 11-on-11 drill session, Thomas landed roughly on his shoulder while attempting to secure a pass delivered by quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The promising second-year player managed to leave the field unassisted, albeit cautiously holding his injured shoulder. Following a quick evaluation by the team’s medical staff at the indoor practice facility, Thomas soon rejoined his teammates on the sidelines.

“He’s fine,” stated Coach Coen confidently. “He could have absolutely gone back out there and played. It’s just a minor bruise. He’s got excellent range of motion and strength. Everything’s good. It’s all just a precaution.”

Thomas made quite an impact last season, catching 87 passes for a total of 1,282 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns during his rookie year. Given recent team changes, including the trade of Christian Kirk and the release of Gabe Davis, Thomas is anticipated to play a central role in Coen’s offensive strategy.

“It’s never easy to see any player get hurt, even minor injuries, but we’ve been fortunate,” Coen remarked, emphasizing the importance of maintaining team health throughout the season.
