BOSTON — Boston Celtics All-Star guard Jaylen Brown underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this past Wednesday. The team has stated that he is likely to return in full capacity at the beginning of training camp. The Celtics clarified that the surgery involved a minimally invasive procedure to clear out his knee.
Brown, who has been named an All-Star four times and was honored as the MVP of the 2024 NBA Finals, had a commendable performance last season, averaging 22 points, 4.5 assists, and 5.8 rebounds. It marked his ninth season in the league. His presence in the upcoming season is especially critical due to the anticipated absence of fellow star Jayson Tatum. Tatum will be sidelined for most of the season as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon injury, which he sustained during the playoffs, significantly affecting the Celtics’ ability to defend their title.
Financially, Brown is set to earn a substantial $53 million next season within a five-year contract valued at $304 million, which was considered the most lucrative in NBA history at the time of signing. This contract underscores the team’s investment in Brown as a central figure in their future endeavors.
