PROVO, Utah — Temira Poindexter delivered an impressive performance, scoring 24 points to lead No. 12 Kansas State to a resounding 92-65 victory over BYU on Saturday night, marking their 12th consecutive win.
Poindexter shined by sinking five 3-pointers and finishing the game with a shooting performance of 9-of-14. For Kansas State (17-1, 5-0 Big 12), Ayoka Lee contributed significantly with 19 points, while Serena Sundell scored 12 points and recorded 13 rebounds. This victory reinforces Kansas State’s strong start, as they have matched last season’s impressive 17-1 record early on.
Leading BYU (10-6, 1-4), Delaney Gibb put forth an admirable effort, posting 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Emma Calvert added 13 points to the scoreboard, and Heather Hamson chipped in with 11 points.
The game turned in the second quarter when Poindexter scored 14 of her 24 points, helping Kansas State dominate with a 27-12 surge, resulting in a 50-32 lead at halftime. Sundell played a key role in a pivotal moment during the third quarter, scoring five points as part of a 10-0 run that propelled the Wildcats to a 33-point lead heading into the final period.
Kansas State showcased their exceptional offense, boasting the nation’s best field-goal percentage at .508 and leading in assists per game at 22.9. They shot an impressive 52.1% (37 of 71) against BYU and recorded a total of 26 assists.
