BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox announced on Wednesday that their outfielder and designated hitter, Masataka Yoshida, successfully underwent surgery to fix the cartilage in his right shoulder, with plans to return in time for the opening day of the season.
Yoshida had the surgery for a right shoulder labral repair on October 3rd.
In the previous season, the 29-year-old player recorded a batting average of .280, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 56 runs. This performance marked his second year with the Red Sox after coming from Japan to join the team.
