HOUSTON — Defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. of the Houston Texans has received a four-game suspension without pay due to a breach of the NFL’s substances of abuse policy.

Announced on Monday, this suspension means Edwards will be eligible to return to the team following the Texans’ matchup against Detroit on November 10.

At 30 years old, Edwards has been a consistent presence on the field, starting in every game this season and accumulating 18 tackles, two sacks, and one fumble recovery.

He joined the Texans in March after inking a one-year contract worth $2 million, following a previous season spent with Seattle.

As of now, the Texans organization has not issued any statements regarding Edwards’ suspension.

Interestingly, Edwards’ suspension coincides with the reinstatement of defensive end Denico Autry, who just completed a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.
