LONDON — Nick Kyrgios has announced that he will not participate in the upcoming Wimbledon tournament, as well as the remainder of the grass-court season. The Australian, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, shared the unfortunate news on Tuesday.

At 30 years old, Kyrgios has been plagued by injuries over recent seasons, undergoing surgeries on both his wrist and knee. These setbacks have limited his participation to just five singles matches in 2025, where he recorded a 1-4 win-loss record. His latest appearance in a tournament was at the Miami Open in March, where he achieved a victory for the first time in nearly two and a half years.

Expressing his disappointment, Kyrgios posted about facing a minor setback in his recovery, which will prevent his return to the grass courts this year. The athlete is currently ranked 633rd in the world, a significant drop from his career-high ranking of 13th in 2016.

Reflecting on his previous performances, Kyrgios delivered his strongest showing at a major tournament three years ago by reaching the final at the All England Club, although he was ultimately defeated by Novak Djokovic. This year’s Wimbledon is set to commence on June 30.
