Veterans at the event defended Trump’s values, emphasizing his support for them. Trump supporters, like Tom Barrett, a veteran of the Iraq War, criticized the Biden administration’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, highlighting perceived failures in leadership.
During the event, Trump announced vague plans to provide free In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment if he secures a second term. He did not outline how the funding would operate or the specifics of the plan. IVF treatments are typically costly, with no guaranteed success after multiple rounds, making them out of reach for many individuals.
Vice President Kamala Harris, in her first major television interview of the presidential campaign, defended her shift from some liberal positions, stating her values remain consistent while seeking consensus. She addressed changes in her stance on issues like banning fracking and decriminalizing border crossings. Harris emphasized the importance of consequences for unauthorized border crossings and refrained from supporting a fracking ban, considering its significance to states like Pennsylvania.
