Stockton, California – In a thrilling matchup, Myron Amey Jr. played a pivotal role off the bench, contributing 24 points to lead Loyola Marymount to a closely contested 73-68 win over Pacific on Thursday evening.
Amey showcased impressive shooting, going 7 for 12 overall and hitting 5 of 8 from beyond the arc, while also making all five attempts from the free-throw line. This victory improved the Lions’ record to 12-8, with a conference standing of 4-4 in the West Coast Conference. Alongside Amey, Jevon Porter added ten points on 4 of 6 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds. Caleb Stone-Carrawell also contributed with ten points, though he struggled from three-point range, finishing 5 of 11 but missing all four of his attempts from deep.
On the other side, Pacific was led by Elijah Fisher, who recorded an impressive 21 points, accompanied by seven rebounds and four assists. Elias Ralph had a notable performance as well, tallying 20 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Lamar Washington also made his mark on the game, finishing with 11 points for the Tigers, who now sit at 6-16 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
Amey was particularly impactful in the first half, scoring 11 points and allowing his team to head into halftime with a 43-34 advantage. Remarkably, he was responsible for the last ten points scored by Loyola Marymount before the break.
Looking ahead, Loyola Marymount will be facing Portland at home on January 30, while Pacific prepares for a match against Pepperdine this coming Saturday.
