AKRON, Ohio — In an impressive performance on Tuesday night, Seth Wilson led the Akron Zips to an 87-71 triumph over Central Michigan.
Wilson contributed 18 points and secured five rebounds, helping the Zips improve their record to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference.
Nate Johnson also played a significant role for Akron, scoring 13 points despite shooting only 5 for 14 from the field, including a challenging 1 for 6 from three-point range, while adding six rebounds to his tally.
Sharron Young supported the offensive effort, finishing with 12 points after hitting 5 of his 8 attempts, including two three-pointers from three attempts.

On the other side, the Chippewas, who now stand at 6-8 and 0-2 in conference play, were spearheaded by Kyler Vanderjagt, who netted 20 points alongside two steals.
Jakobi Heady also made a notable contribution with 14 points and two steals, while Ugnius Jarusevicius matched his effort with another 14 points in the game.

The Zips seized the lead approximately 5.5 minutes into the first half and maintained control throughout the game.
At halftime, the scoreboard read 41-38, with Shammah Scott adding nine points to Akron’s total.
In the second half, Akron surged ahead with a commanding 12-0 scoring run, widening their lead to 56-41.
Wilson was pivotal in the second half, finishing with a total of nine points in that period as the Zips secured their victory against Central Michigan.
