ATLANTA — In an impressive display, Barry Dunning Jr. scored 22 points, leading South Alabama to a decisive 77-51 victory over Georgia State on Thursday night.
Dunning also contributed significantly on the boards, securing eight rebounds for the Jaguars, who now hold a record of 10-4 with a 2-0 standing in the Sun Belt Conference. Judah Brown complemented Dunning’s performance with 15 points, hitting 5 of his 10 shots, of which 5 were from three-point range. JJ Wheat made a perfect shooting night, finishing 6 of 6 from the field for a total of 13 points.
The Panthers, struggling this season, saw Toneari Lane lead their efforts with 15 points. Cesare Edwards contributed 12 points and gathered six rebounds, while Jelani Hamilton added nine points to the tally. This defeat marks the seventh consecutive loss for Georgia State, who is now 4-10 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Both teams are set to continue their seasons on Saturday; South Alabama will take on Georgia Southern away, while Georgia State will host Louisiana at home.
