KARACHI, Pakistan – The Pakistan cricket team has faced a penalty of 5% of their match fees due to a slow over rate during their inaugural Champions Trophy match against New Zealand.
Despite accounting for time allowances, Pakistan fell short by one over as they lost to New Zealand by a margin of 60 runs in the Group A contest which took place on Wednesday, as confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan accepted responsibility for the infraction, and as a result, no further formal hearing was deemed necessary by the ICC.
