In Worcester, Massachusetts, excitement filled the air as Boston Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony launched a remarkable grand slam for Triple-A Worcester, guiding his team to a triumphant 10-4 victory over Rochester in the International League. The game on Saturday night was marked by Anthony’s powerful swing in the eighth inning.

At just 21 years old, Anthony demonstrated his potential by propelling a 91.1 mph sinker from Carlos Romero far beyond the right-center field boundary. This feat not only gave the Red Sox a commanding 9-4 lead but also showcased his incredible hitting prowess, with the ball leaving his bat at a staggering 115.6 mph.

Drafted in the second round of the 2022 amateur draft, Anthony is having an impressive season, maintaining a .290 batting average with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs over the span of 57 games. He has now managed to achieve the accolade of two grand slams this season.

In terms of distance, Anthony’s home run stood out as the longest measured by Statcast this year, a system used to track performances across Major League Baseball, Triple-A, and the Class A Florida State League. This remarkable feat places him in elite company, as since the inception of Statcast in 2015, only a handful of players, including Nomar Mazara, Giancarlo Stanton, C.J. Cron, and Christian Yelich, have managed to hit longer home runs.
