FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Taylasia Cooper led the charge with 20 points as the 16th-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers easily defeated Arkansas with a score of 93-63 on Sunday.

Cooper showcased her scoring ability by successfully completing seven of her 14 attempts from the field, including one 3-pointer and converting 5 of 7 free throws. This victory comes as a welcome relief for the Lady Vols (14-2, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) after suffering narrow losses in their previous two home games against No. 9 Oklahoma and No. 6 LSU, which they lost by a total of just three points. Additionally, Cooper contributed defensively with four steals.

Zee Spearman also made a significant impact, scoring 18 points on an impressive 7-for-9 shooting performance and nailing all three of her attempts from beyond the arc. She also collected eight rebounds for the Lady Volunteers. Ruby Whitehorn contributed 17 points, while Sara Puckett added 11 points and nearly achieved a double-double with nine rebounds off the bench.

For Arkansas (8-11, 1-3), Izzy Higginbottom was the standout player, scoring 26 points alongside six rebounds but struggled with ball control as she was involved in six of the team’s 22 turnovers. Carly Keats added 10 points to the Razorbacks’ tally.

The game shifted momentum when Whitehorn hit consecutive jump shots, allowing Tennessee to turn around a three-point deficit to lead 12-11. Puckett then capped the first quarter with a 3-pointer, leaving the Lady Volunteers up 22-16.

As the second quarter got underway, Puckett made another 3-pointer and added two free throws, while Cooper contributed a layup, fueling a 7-2 run that extended Tennessee’s lead to 13 points. Although Arkansas managed to close the gap to five points, Jewell Spear was fouled beyond the arc and converted three free throws. Following that, Whitehorn and Alyssa Latham scored off Razorback turnovers, pushing the lead to 14 for Tennessee within a span of 90 seconds. They concluded the first half with a 47-33 lead.

In the second half, Tennessee continued to build their lead, outscoring Arkansas by 12 points in the third quarter, which set the stage for a 73-47 advantage heading into the final period.

Looking ahead, Tennessee is set to host Mississippi State on Thursday, while Arkansas will welcome No. 18 Alabama to their court on Sunday.
