A postal worker lost his life after being stabbed in a deli located in New York City on Thursday afternoon, as authorities report they have detained a person of interest in connection with the incident.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., the postal employee was assaulted while performing his duties at a deli on Lenox Avenue in Harlem, which is also recognized as Malcolm X Boulevard. According to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the victim was a letter carrier who served the Manhattan area.

The 36-year-old male was promptly transported to a medical facility with severe stab injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. Police have not released additional information at this time, nor has the Postal Inspection Service provided further updates; they are currently collaborating on the investigation. Efforts to contact the deli for comment have been unsuccessful since no working phone number was immediately accessible.

It should be noted that previous reports mistakenly indicated the date of the incident as Monday; however, the correct date is confirmed to be Thursday.
