The 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles aim to provide athletes and spectators with a convenient and vibrant competition experience. All the events will be located within a 35-mile radius, ensuring easy access to the various venues. Notably, athletes will be accommodated on the campus of UCLA, marking the first time since the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016 that a single location has housed the entire athlete community.

The LA28 organizing committee announced an updated venue plan after securing approval from the governing board of the International Paralympic Committee. The much-anticipated Paralympics will occur from August 15 to August 27, following the conclusion of the Los Angeles Olympics, which promises to be a spectacular precursor to the Paralympic event.

A majority of the sports competitions are set to take place in key areas of Los Angeles, with the downtown and Exposition Park locations designated as the primary hubs for the action. The Los Angeles Convention Center has been selected to host a variety of sports, including boccia, para judo, para table tennis, para taekwondo, and wheelchair fencing. Nearby, the Crypto.com Arena will be the venue for wheelchair basketball, providing an energized atmosphere for the sport.

The closely positioned Peacock Theater will host goalball, making use of its acoustically optimized setting to enhance the experience. The historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is slated to host para track and field events and the grand finale, the closing ceremony. The Galen Center, located nearby, will serve as the venue for wheelchair rugby and para badminton, offering another key site for athletic achievement.

The picturesque Venice Beach will be the backdrop for the para triathlon and will also serve as the starting point for the marathon. Additionally, the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson is set to host para archery, wheelchair tennis, and para track cycling within its velodrome.

Introducing a new sport to the Paralympic Games, climbing will debut in 2028. The Long Beach Convention Center’s parking lot will stage four men’s and four women’s climbing events. The same location will also feature para swimming in a temporary pool, while sport shooting will take place within the convention center at a temporary range.

Long Beach Arena is prepared to welcome the sitting volleyball competitions, and over at Alamitos Beach by the Pacific Ocean, a temporary arena will hold blind football events. Meanwhile, Marine Stadium will host para rowing and para canoe-sprint competitions, promising exciting water-based sports.

In Arcadia, the Santa Anita racetrack will transform into a venue for para equestrian events, reflecting the diverse sporting offerings planned for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. The diverse and dynamic range of venues selected promises an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike.
