In Greenville, Texas, a police officer was fatally shot, and a suspect sustained injuries during an incident that unfolded on Monday night, according to local authorities.
Police Chief Chris Smith announced that Officer Cooper Dawson succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital. The event occurred approximately 45 miles northeast of Dallas, highlighting the severity of the situation in the area.
Officer Dawson was reportedly ambushed while pursuing a suspect on foot, following an attempted traffic stop. In the exchange of gunfire, Dawson managed to return fire, injuring the suspect, who is now receiving treatment in a medical facility.
